An analysis by researchers at the Guttmacher Institute found that variation in state unintended pregnancy rates are strongly linked with the proportion of women without health insurance. The Guttmacher Institute publishes state-level estimates of the percentage of women of reproductive age (15-44 years) without health insurance. These data are obtained from the U.S. Census Current Population Survey. Survey data for 2009 and 2010 were combined to produce the state-level estimates.
